A New Hampshire couple was charged in connection with the murder of a New Jersey woman whose torched body was discovered in Bridgewater earlier this month, according to the Brockton Enterprise.

Julian and Shannon Squires were arraigned in Brockton District Court on intimidation of a witness and impeding a police investigation charges on Monday.

Neither have been charged in the murder of the 29-year-old New Jersey woman, Ashley Bortner, whose burned remains were found Nov. 3 near train tracks on Oak Street after a nearby resident noticed a black SUV with three people inside pointing its headlights down the tracks.

Bortner had been hogtied, had a cloth put over her face and was still ablaze when authorities arrived on scene, police said.

Julian Squires owns a black SUV which has been impounded by police, according to the Brockton Enterprise.Investigators reviewed both Julian and Shannon Squires’s phone records, which indicate their phones were pinged in the Bridgewater area at the time of the murder.

Julian Squires is a longtime friend of Bortner’s boyfriend, the Brockton Enterprise reported, adding that Bortner had recent issues with her boyfriend. The Squires both admitted to police that they were with Bortner and her boyfriend on the night of her death.

They both reportedly denied to police having any involvement with her murder.

Julian Squires was ordered held on $100,000 bail and Shannon Squires was held on $20,000 bail.

There is a chance that the two could face additional charges.
