PHOTOS: Dozens injured in Green Line crash at Boylston MBTA station (UPDATED)

Dozens of people were injured Thursday morning when two Green Line trains collided at the Boylston MBTA station.

Speaking to reporters near the T station shortly after the noon crash, emergency response officials said about 26 people were hurt and suffered mostly minor injuries. That number rose later today to more than 30 people, Boston EMS officials said.

Tufts Medical Center, which is a few blocks from the station, tweeted that it treated eight patients from the crash and all have minor injuries.

The Boylston Street station was closed for about two hours because of the accident and it was reopened before the afternoon rush. However officials warned of residual delays.

An MBTA spokesman said that one Green Line train bumped another train. There was no derailment and no visible damage, the T said.

City officials were urging drivers to avoid the area as some lanes of Boylston Street westbound were closed to let emergency vehicles access the area.

Twitter was flooded with people who were snapping pictures and were nearby the station.
