California Lt. Governor to discuss democracy in digital age at National Constitution Center

California Lt. Governor Gavin Newsom will discuss American Democracy in the digital age at the National Constitution Center on Wednesday.

Newsom, who also served two terms as mayor of San Francisco from 2004 through 2011, will discuss along with Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter how “ordinary citizens can use digital tools to dissolve political gridlock and transform American democracy.”

In Newsom’s recently released book, Citizenville: How to Take the Town Square Digital and Reinvent Government, he explains  how government cannot keep functioning in a 20th century mind-set in a 21st Century, technology-driven world.

The event is sold out, but will be streamed live at the center’s website, constitutioncenter.org, starting at 6:30 p.m.
