A man was killed yesterday when the car he was driving veered onto the other side of the road and hit a snowplow head-on.

Norton police responded to the West Main Street crash just before 3 p.m.

Police said the driver of SUV, William Lozeau, 50, was traveling west when he veered into the eastbound lane and hit a town plow truck. It was not immediately known what caused Lozeau to swerve into the other lane.

A firefighter was nearby clearing snow from a hydrant and responded to the crash. He attended to Lozeau who was taken to a hospital where he later died.

The driver of the plow, George Guptill, 48, of Rhode Island, was taken to a hospital for evaluation. He was not cited for the crash.

Police are investigating.
