UPDATE: Police report the victim was found in his bedroom with his hands and feet bound. His feet were tied with electrical cord; speaker wires were wrapped around his shoulders.

A law enforcement source reports that the victim was shot once in the head.

Police believe the fire started in the victim’s bedroom.

The victim lived on the second floor of a two-story residential building with a bodega on the ground floor.

No one else was injured, police said.

The victim was identified for police by his brother, when he arrived on the scene after the fire was extinguished.

Metro’s original story is below.

At 2:35 a.m. early Sunday morning, police and firemen responded to the scene of a fire at a home in South Richmond Hills in Queens.

After the fire had been put out, police discovered a 43-year-old man with severe burns all over his body. He was pronounced dead at the scene by EMS personnel.

The fire has been deemed suspicious by police; an investigation is underway.
