Lifeless body pulled from Schuylkill River after car plunges into water
Update: The man whose car entered the water has been pronounced dead, officials said.
A body was pulled from the Schuylkill River this afternoon after a car left Kelly Drive near Boathouse Row and plunged into the frigid waters.
Divers recovered the body around 1 p.m., but attempts by emergency personnel to administer CPR were unsuccessful.
The driver’s condition was not available.
According to onlookers, several people jumped into the river after the car to try and recover the driver. They floated to the surface empty handed. One was injured in the attempt and was taken to the hospital, officials said.
