Nancy Pelosi in Boston to call for stronger, more modern sick care leave
Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi will be in Boston on Monday afternoon to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Family and Medical Leave Act, and call for the strengthening and modernization of the landmark bill, and similar state-level policies.
The federal law guarantees Americans get time off work to care for loved ones.
At 2 p.m., Pelosi will meet with Massachusetts workers directly impacted by the bill.
Her visit to Boston is part of a monthlong series of activities in which members of Congress are marking the anniversary of the legislation. They have held in-district events around the country, discussing expansion of work-family policies and renewed momentum behind strengthening the protections of Family and Medical Leave Act at the federal level.
The event is set to happen at SEIU Local 615.
