AVI: How Philadelphians can challenge reassessments, voice concerns
Under Mayor Michael Nutter’s AVI plan, properties will be assessed and taxed based on their true market value, rather than a predefined percentage.
For residents who have already received their assessment notice and wish to challenge it, here are the steps to take.
If you want to request a review of your reassessment:
The deadline to file for a first-level review is March 31, or 30 days after an assessment notice is issued. To file for the review, click here.
For those property owners who wish to file a formal appeal with the Board of Revision of Taxes, they must do so by Oct. 7. To file a formal appeal, click here.
If you want to voice your opinions:
Taxpayers can seek assistance with their forms and have questions answered both in person and over the phone.
Tonight, there will be two separate meetings, which start at 6 p.m. The meetings are located at:
Holy Spirit School: 1845 Hartranft St.
Protestant Homes: 6500 Tabor Ave.
A live, toll-free Telephone Town Hall session will be held Thursday from 6:55 p.m. to 7:55 p.m. To listen or pose a question, you can register here.
