Multi-billionaire Mark Cuban is challenging some Boston college students to develop a television show for his network and is offering them a cash prize.

Cuban, an entrepreneur and owner of the Dallas Mavericks basketball team, is offering a $5,000 prize to Berklee College of Music students who are able to develop a show for AXS TV. Cuban, who also appears on the ABC show “Shark Tank,” has a net worth of $2.4 billion, according to Forbes.

The contest is exclusively for Berklee students and challenges them to come up with a new, innovative show for his music and style network. A partnership between Cuban and Berklee President Roger Brown formed when the two began talking about innovative ways to connect music, television and social media, the school said.

“The future of music on TV is live and I can’t wait to pick the best show and social media ideas from the many I am sure students will contribute,” Cuban said in a statement.

A committee made up of members from AXS, Cuban’s company and Berklee will narrow the ideas to the top 10 and Cuban will select the winner based on votes, comments and recommendations.

“Mark Cuban said let’s find a fast way to dream up new music programming for the next generation,” Brown said in a statement. “I said among our 4,000 talented music students lies the answer.”

Next year, Berklee students will pay about $36,000 in tuition with housing and fees driving the price above $55,000.
