Transit Police search for suspect in Dudley Square MBTA driver attack
Transit Police are searching for a man who allegedly assaulted an MBTA bus driver over a fare dispute Tuesday night at Dudley Square Station.
WCVB reported today that a 36-year-old T bus driver was punched in the face after he asked a passenger to pay the full fare after he dropped in just a few coins.
“A lot of words passed and it just happened. Passengers were shocked and ran off the bus, screaming for help,” one witness said.
“He asked the driver for a ride and he couldn’t get it, and the driver got a little belligerent with him and he couldn’t take it,” a witness said.
Transit Police said they are reviewing video surveillance of the alleged assault.
There has been a significant uptick in attacks on MBTA workers in the past few months.
Last month, a mob of roughly 15 teens assaulted an MBTA bus driver as he drove his Route 16 bus.
