The Pennsylvania legislature’s LGBT Equality Caucus will on Tuesday hold a news conference in Harrisburg to announce the “largest-ever” list of sponsors for non-discrimination legislation.

The companion bills to be introduced in the state Senate and state House of Representatives would ban discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender identity or expression in employment, housing, credit and public accommodations anywhere in the state.

A new major corporate sponsor of the package will also be announced, along with results of a recent poll about the laws.

Speakers at the 10 a.m. press conference are expected to include co-chairmen of the LGBT Equality Caucus – state Rep. Dan Frankel, (D-Allegheny) and state Sen. Daylin Leach, (D-Montgomery/Delaware) – along with state Rep. Chris Ross, (R-Chester); state Sen. Larry Farnese, (D-Phila.); state Sen. Pat Browne, (R-Lehigh/Northampton/Monroe) and state Rep. Brian Sims, (D-Phila.).

Also expected to attend are executive director of Equality Pennsylvania Ted Martin, former president of the Susquehanna Township board of commissioners Diane Bowman, Pennsylvania Council of Churches director of public advocacy Rev. Sandra Strauss and Erie man Michael Day, who will provide a firsthand account of discrimination.
