For sale: American Civil War Wax Museum
An American Civil War commemorative wax museum, located at the site of one of the war’s crucial battles, is up for sale, reports say.
The Gettysburg, Pa.-based American Civil War Wax Museum is on the market for nearly $1.7 million, according to the The Evening Sun. The news surfaces only months before the 150th anniversary of the Battle of Gettysburg.
The museum’s owners are looking to retire, according to the newspaper.
Fifty-one years since it opened, the museum houses more than 300 life-size figures alongside replica camps and historic scenes. The museum attempts to recreate the living conditions of the 19th Century soldiers.
July marks the anniversary of the battle – and the Union victory – which is widely considered the turning point in the four-year conflict.
