VIDEO: Man vandalizes vehicles in Southwest Philadelphia

Philadelphia police are seeking the public’s help identifying a man they say hurled a corrosive substance on six vehicles parked on the 2400 and 2500 blocks of South 73rd Street in the early hours of May 16.

Police on Saturday posted video of the suspect on YouTube. The man is carrying a container and conceals his face in the video footage.

The vandalism occurred about 1 a.m. on May 16 in the city’s Elmwood and Penrose neighborhoods, police said. The corrosive substance was tossed along the sides of each of the six vehicles.

Police described the suspect as a heavyset black male estimated to be 30 to 40 years old. He was wearing a T-shirt, dark pants and black-and-white sneakers.

Police ask anyone with information about this crime to call Southwest Detectives at 215-686-3183/3184 or 215-686-TIPS (8477), or text a tip to PPD TIP (773847). You can also submit information by electronic form by clicking here.
