Underground fire knocks out Rittenhouse power
An underground electrical fire knocked out power to PECO customers in the Rittenhouse Square area Monday morning.
The fire broke out about 1 a.m. in the area of 18th and Walnut streets, 6ABC Action News reports. Fire crews responded to the area after residents reported seeing smoke coming from manholes, and were able to quickly extinguish the blaze.
A stretch of 18th Street was shut down Monday morning as PECO crews worked to restore power, according to the Actions News report.
