Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez was questioned by state and local police at his home Tuesday after a dead body was found less than a mile from his North Attleboro, Mass. home on Monday. Officials returned to the home on Wednesday. Hernandez is not being ruled out as a suspect in a possible homicide.

The body was identified Wednesday as 27-year-old Odin Lloyd of Dorchester according to reports. WBZ reported early Wednesday afternoon that Lloyd was dating the sister of Hernandez’s girlfriend.

Lloyd played linebacker for a semi-pro football team, made up of former high school and college players, the Boston Bandits.

The team released a statement on its Facebook page today that said, “To the 30 Bandits that practiced and/or came through last night despite the rain and saddness associated to the field where most of us last all saw Odin, we will persevere to play the game that Odin loved to play. ‘Once A Bandit Always A Bandit.’”

Lloyd’s body was found in an industrial yard Monday by a jogger. A Sports Illustrated report said that a rental car that was once under Hernandez’s name is tied to the case. The car is expected to be searched Wednesday.

Hernandez reportedly left his home Wednesday morning. Shortly after, officials returned, knocked on the door, and did not receive an answer.

Patriots spokesman Stacey James told ABC, “I am aware of the reports, but I do not anticipate that we will be commenting publicly during an ongoing police investigation.”

Troopers were seen coming in and out of Hernandez’s home Tuesday night.

Hernandez was born and raised in Bristol, Conn. before moving on to play college football at Florida. He was a fourth round choice of the Patriots in 2010 though he likely would have been a first round selection had it not been for “character issues” centered around marijuana use at Florida.
