Massachusetts unemployment rate rises to 7%
The Massachusetts unemployment rate rose to 7 percent for the month of June, an increase from May’s 6.6 percent.
The state’s Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development said Thursday that the Massachusetts economy added 2,800 jobs last month, Boston.com reports. The heightened unemployment rate in combination with thousands of added jobs is a result of more people looking for work.
The current national unemployment rate is 7.6 percent. Only people seeking full-time employment are factored into these statistics.
According to the Globe, the Massachusetts economy added jobs in the construction and financial services sectors in June.
