A Bottom Dollar Food store slated to open next year in Chester, Pa. will become the city’s first grocery store in over a decade.

Soloff Realty and Development on Friday announced plans for the 18,076 square-foot market at 15th Street and Edgmont Avenue.

The Bottom Dollar, which is scheduled to be completed in early 2014, will be open seven days a week and have a 74-car off-street parking lot.

Developers said they anticipate the grocery will create 40 to 50 new permanent jobs, in addition to local construction work.

“Bottom Dollar Food is a tremendous addition to the city of Chester and I look forward to completing this project so Bottom Dollar can bring the residents of Chester the convenience and variety of fresh, healthy food,” developer Richard Soloff said in a statement.

The grocery met with strong support from city officials, who worked together with planners and neighborhood associations to create a blueprint that best fit the community, according to a release.

Developers will hold a groundbreaking ceremony on the site at 11 a.m. Friday, July 26.

“This neighborhood grocery store will provide healthy, affordable options for the residents within the area, as well as all of Chester,” executive director of the Chester Economic Development Authority Jackie Parker said in a statement.

“Bottom Dollar will be the linchpin for future economic development within the city of Chester and is an indication of the many investment opportunities here.”
