The town of Wilbraham is in shock over the murder of 24-year-old Amy Lord.  Now, they’re honoring her memory.

White ribbons line the streets of the small Western Massachusetts town. On Wednesday night, hundreds of people came out to show their support and to mourn together at a candlelight vigil, WHDH reports. There was also a fundraiser at a restaurant on Thursday, with several others planned for the near future.

The Wilbraham native, who was stabbed to death after being kidnapped and robbed from South Boston on the way to the gym, is remembered as a bright girl with a promising future.

“She just made everyone feel like they were your best friend and she just really wanted to be there to support other people,” a friend told WHDH.

“There’s no words to say how you really feel. It’s like you just need to go through the motions and just kind of take it day by day,” said another friend.

Amy graduated from Minnechaug Regional High School in 2007 and from Bentley University in 2011.

A wake will be held for Lord on Monday, followed by a funeral on Tuesday.

Authorities are asking that Bostonians be on the lookout for any suspicious behavior, and to use common sense at all times.

“Based on what we know about Ms. Lord’s abduction and homicide, I want to implore the people of Boston, and especially South Boston, to keep their eyes open for strange or threatening behavior. I ask you to watch out for your friends and your neighbors. And I especially want to urge people not to enter a car or confined area with any stranger,” Suffolk Distrinct Attorney Dan Conley said Wednesday.
