A woman is being treated at Hahnemann Univerisity Hospital after she was shot in the head inside her Northern Liberties apartment Tuesday night.

The shooting happened about 7:40 p.m. on the 100 block of West Girard Avenue, police said. Police officers arrived to find the victim lying in the front door area, with “blood all over,” a police spokeswoman said this morning.

The 27-year-old woman regained consciousness at the hospital, and she was able to tell police she answered the door, but did not recognize the man who was there. She was then forced into her apartment, where she was shot once in the head.

The suspect is described as a light-skinned, thin black male, about 6 feet tall, with light facial hair.
