Public Advocate launches website for NYCHA complaints

Public Advocate Bill de Blasio launched a website Friday to track repairs at every NYCHA building in the city.

According to de Blasio’s data, the largest volume of repair requests was at the Grant Houses in Harlem: there are currently 6,203 repair requests at that location alone.

The requests have been waited for an average of 344 days — nearly a full year.

Some of the most pressing unanswered requests are in Brooklyn. The Sumner Houses have two dozen outstanding extermination requests with an average wait time of nearly 18 months.

The NYCHA website can be found here.

The Public Advocate’s office launched a similar website in the past to track complaints about landlords. They say that website is one of the most used websites in city government. That website, the Landlords Watch List, can be found here.

De Blasio is one of the lead candidates in the mayoral race. He and some of the other candidates spent a night in NYCHA apartments recently as part of their campaign events.
