Protesters are expected to gather at Park Street station this afternoon to speak out against the 35-year prison sentence handed down to U.S. Army private Bradley Manning today.

Manning, 25, is accused of espionage for leaking 700,000 classified military files to Wikileaks.

Today’s rally is set for 5 p.m., according to the Facebook page, “Emergency rally after Bradley Manning Sentence – Boston.”

The event description reads, “Join thousands of supporters in the streets in a worldwide action to demonstrate support for the heroic soldier who sacrificed so much to reveal to the public the truth of the wars. Pressure President Obama to keep his promise to protect whistleblowers. Pressure President Obama to pardon Bradley Manning. FREE BRADLEY MANNING NOW!”

So far, only 50 have said they will turn out to the Boston rally, although other U.S. rallies are reportedly planned following the sentencing.

“I’m going if at all possible because everyone but everyone needs to be Bradley Manning and tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth as much as possible,” said Ralph Galen, who pledged his support on the page. “It’s the lies and deception that are killing us. I will go because Bradley Manning has got guts and he reminds me that we can all do more for all of us.”
