Jerry Sandusky criticized his former employer in a hand-written letter to filmmaker John Ziegler claiming Pennsylvania State University is paying out too much to his victims.

Sandusky said the university’s approach to handling the settlements was a typical attempt to protect its image at all costs.

“What Penn State has done is expected and consistent,” Sandusky wrote in his Aug. 20 letter. “The only concern from the beginning of this by administrators and trustees has been to protect their image.”

According to the letter, it was written a few days after the university settled its first lawsuit with one of the 31 men who claimed they were abused by the former assistant head football coach.

On Monday, ABC News reported the university had settled a total of 25 lawsuits including with Matthew, Sandusky’s adopted son. No dollar figures have been released.

Sandusky was convicted of 45 counts of sexual abuse in  in June 2012. He was sentenced to serve between 30 and 60 years in prison, but is currently appealing his conviction.

Ziegler, who operates the blog, “The Framing of Joe Paterno,”  posted the letter on Tuesday.
