A police officer in North Brookfield was sentenced to 3.5 years in prison after he admitted to raping a 15-year-old girl.

Adam J. Kachadoorian, 44, pleaded guilty to charges of child rape, indecent assault and battery on a person 14 or older, and distribution of obscene matter and dissemination of matter harmful to a minor, according to the Worcester Telegram and Gazette.

The rape occurred on Oct. 13, 2011, at the teenage victim’s Leicester home. Prosecutors also stated in court that Kachadoorian sent a photo of male genitalia to the girl’s cell phone, sent her text messages to ask if she was going to tell her parents and, after being confronted, said the sex with the teen had been consensual.

In a victim’s statement read by a prosecutor at the trial, the girl admitted “It took me awhile to get over the fact that it wasn’t my fault. I was a minor and he was a grown man.”

Kachadoorian’s lawyer told the court that his client’s behavior was “an aberration” and that he was “extremely remorseful for his conduct.”

Kachadoorian will also be required to pay restitution for expenses incurred by the victim and her family in connection with the case, the article continued.
