Avonte Oquendo, 14, has been missing for more than two weeks, and Police Commissioner Ray Kelly says the NYPD has gotten no substantive leads in their search for him.

With the lack of progress, it seems the NYPD may “have to make adjustments” in the amount of resources being used in the investigation.

Kelly said if there is no headway made in the search in the next few days, such modifications will have to be made this week.

The NYPD currently has “a couple hundred” officers engaged in the search, Kelly said. They have deployed divers all along the coastal area of the river near the school where Oquendo went missing.

“We have our scuba divers in the water everyday,” Kelly said. “We’re doing everything that we reasonably can do. Helicopter surveys, rooftops, that sort of thing, are being done as well.”

Kelly also said the NYPD has interviewed “virtually everyone in the sex offender registry” as well as anyone who has an arrest record involving the abuse of a child under the age of 16.

Despite receiving over 200 tips, there have been no credible sightings, Kelly said.

Avonte’s brother, Daniel Detrick Oquendo, left the city today to return to his home in Orlando, Fla. He posted an Instagram video on his Tumblr asking people to continue searching for his little brother.
