‘Simpsons’ voice star Marcia Wallace dies at 70
The Mirror is reporting that Marcia Wallace, renowned as the voice of chain-smoking elementary school teacher Edna Krabappel on “The Simpsons,” has died at 70.
Wallace first came to prominence in the 1970s as Carol Kester, the receptionist on “The Bob Newhart Show.”
She later became a fixture of the longest running animated sitcom. Mrs. Krabappel was Bart Simpson’s worldweary teacher, known for her signature derisive laugh and for falling in love with man child Principal Seymour Skinner. By the 23rd season she had married another repressed type, Ned Flanders.
She died of complications from breast cancer.
