The animal rights watchgroup Goosewatch NYC says USDA agents rounded up Staten Island turkeys on Oct. 26 and carted them off to be slaughtered.

Goosewatch members reportedly watched the agents catch the turkeys with big nets, pack them into crates on a pick-up truck and take them to Kroll Farms in New Windsor, N.Y.

The group posted photos on its Facebook page.

According to Goosewatch, one member was tipped off to the impending capture and went to the South Beach Psychiatric Center lawn where the turkeys congregate and shooed some of them off the grounds the night before.

USDA officials have reportedly told Goosewatch the turkeys are aggressive, block traffic and “poop everywhere,” but hospital employees attest that isn’t so.

The group spoke out when approximately 90 turkeys were killed in August. At that time, the director of the Humane Society’s New York chapter negotiated the release of 28 turkeys from the hospital’s property to Catskill Animal Sanctuary.

The group wants the USDA’s permit to remove the turkeys to be revoked by the state Department of Environmental Conservation.
