Burned parts have been found in Bridgewater and Hyde Park, and investigators are looking into whether the two grisly discoveries are connected.

On Wednesday night, authorities found partial human remains on fire in a barrel on the grounds of the Department of Correction complex in Bridgewater, and on Thursday morning a smoldering torso was discovered on the property of a repair company on Readville Street in Hyde Park.

An unnamed law enforcement official confirmed to the the Globe that surveillance footage showed a person in an vehicle arriving in a vehicle between 3 and 4 a.m. Thursday, tossing something on the ground, and setting it on fire. It was unclear whether the person was male or female.

There was no update on the investigation as of Sunday night.

“Given the circumstances, investigators from both jurisdictions are in contact with one another to determine whether there is a potential link, but nothing has been conclusively established at this point,” Suffolk County District Attorney Jake Wark said in an email Thursday afternoon. “Neither set of remains has been identified at this stage, and given their condition I don’t expect an ID (Thursday).”

The Hyde Park remains were discovered around 9:22 a.m., police said, after officers responded to a radio call to Investigate a Premise near 20 Readville St., which is the address of Heavy Duty Repair, Inc.

“On arrival, officers discovered what appeared to be burned human remains outside the rear of the building,” police said in a statement.

The Globe reported that the State Police on Thursday were in the woods off Titicut Street in Bridgewater at the Department of Correction complex, where Bridgewater firefighters found the burning barrel inside a fire scene.

There are two investigations – one, in Boston, led by the Suffolk District Attorney’s office and the Boston Police Homicide Unit, and the other, in Bridgewater, led by the Plymouth District Attorney’s office with State Police assigned to that office, as well as Bridgewater Police.

Anyone with information on the Hyde Park remains is asked to call District E-18 (Hyde Park) detectives at 617-343-5607.
