VIDEO: Police seek knife-wielding Girard Estates robber
Philadelphia police are seeking the public’s help identifying a woman who robbed two stores in Girard Estates earlier this week.
The robberies happened Monday about 12:15 p.m. at Grace Grocery, located on the 2000 block of South 19th Street, and Tuesday around 8:15 a.m. at the Dollar Tree store on the 2300 block of South 23rd Street, according to police. The suspect wielded a large knife in both cases.
The suspect, unhappy with her “take,” beat the victim of the Grace Grocery robbery after wrapping her in duct tape, police said. She allegedly stole an undetermined amount of cash, cigarettes and the victim’s cell phone.
The suspect stole an undetermined amount of cash in the Dollar Tree robbery, police said. She was last seen heading south on 23rd Street.
Police describe the suspect as a 25- to 30-year-old, dark-skinned black female. She is between 5 feet 2 inches and 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighs 225 to 240 pounds. Police also noted the woman had a sore on her lip.
In the Grace Grocery robbery, she was wearing a black winter hat, a navy blue sweatshirt, loose blue jeans and sneakers. In the Dollar Tree robbery, she was wearing a gray hoodie with “New York” and “7″ on the front and light gray sweatpants.
