(Update) Roxbury driver dies after rear-ending MBTA bus in Randolph
A Roxbury man died Sunday evening, hours after his car struck an MBTA bus on North Maine Street in Randolph.
The victim, who police identified Monday as 24-year-old Jose Reyes, drove his 2007 Infiniti into a Rte. 240 bus around 10:15 a.m. as the bus was stopped at a bus stop on on Rte. 28, according to MBTA Spokesman Joe Pesaturo.
He did not show any signs of braking prior to striking the bus, Pesaturo said.
Nine bus passengers reported back discomfort and were taken to various South Shore hospitals. Officials said none of those injuries were considered life threatening.
The bus was towed to a MBTA garage for damage assessment.
Photographs taken at the scene and published on Twitter show substantial front-end damage to the car.
