In Germany, Church takes responsibility
FULDA, Germany. – Germany’s Catholic Church has said it is ready to pay compensation to victims of abuse by priests, the country’s top bishop said on Thursday.
After a meeting with bishops from across Germany, Robert Zollitsch, head of the German Bishops’ Conference, said the total amount of compensation had yet to be determined.
“It is difficult to compensate for something like this,” he said.
“But we are ready to contribute financially, in the sense of paying for therapy and also as an admission.”
