With the death of North Korean dictator Kim Jong-il, Metro is reprinting our roundup of sad dictator photos, originally published April 12, 2011.

Metro’s erstwhile colleague Josh Sanburn pointed us to a delightful picture of former Ivory Coast dictator Laurent Gbagbo on NYTimes.com yesterday, in which the deposed strongman looks like a child whose candy has just been stolen. In honor of Glum Gbagbo, we present 10 of the world’s saddest dictators:
