Receptionist who connected pranksters to Middleton’s nurse dies in apparent suicide
Just days after a prank phone call made international headlines when a pair of Australian DJs got through to Kate Middleton’s personal nurse, the receptionist who connected the call was found dead in an apparent suicide.
The Daily Mail is reporting the woman was found unconscious just yards from her job at King Edward VII Hospital Friday morning, where Middleton was being treated for morning sickness until Thursday. The receptionist had answered the pranksters’ call and put them through to Middleton’s nurse after one of them posed as the queen asking to speak to her granddaughter.
From there, the receptionist connected the DJs to Middleton’s private nurse who, believing she was speaking with the queen, gave a fair amount of personal information about the Duchess’ condition.
The prank call was broadcast on Sydney’s 2Day radio station and replayed around the world.
Officials said they are not treating the death of the receptionist, whose identity has not been released, as suspicious and suicide is a possible cause.
