I quit: Worker resigns by cake
Immigration worker Chris Holmes found a novel way to quit his job — his resignation letter was a cake.
Holmes, 31, decided he’d had enough of the rat race at the UK’s Stansted Airport and wanted to devote his time to his growing cake-making business.
He baked a 10-by-12 inch spiced carrot cake — containing pecan nuts, sultanas and coconut — and layered it with a flawless sheet of white royal icing.
And then he painstakingly piped his farewell note in black icing.
It read: “Having recently become a father I now realize how precious life is and how important it is to spend my time doing something that makes me, and other people, happy. For that reason, I hereby give notice of my resignation, in order that I may devote my time and energy to my family, and my cake business.”
The cake required 18 eggs and, according to his immigration service colleagues, tasted “very nice.”
