VIDEO: Astonishing scenes as baboons invade house

An amazing video has appeared online showing what happens when a householder in South Africa forgot to close his bedroom windows – his home was taken over by a gang of baboons.

Now a three minute video has appeared on the Liveleak video website, showing the dreadful results. Seemingly unfazed by the yelling coming from the cameraman who took the video, the baboons roam through the house  – at one stage apparently helping themselves to food from the refrigerator.

Later in the video, the cameraman tries to chase the creatures out of the property by using a broom – but to little effect. A farcical chase ensues through the house, with the camera capturing what seems to be large piles of baboon feces on the kitchen floor and apparently on the stair carpeting.

At one stage, a man’s voice talks of ‘destruction’ in the house, while another says they should shoot the animals. The video shows damage in many areas of the house with debris strewn across floors.

The video ends with a confrontation between the cameraman and a large, probably male, baboon that becomes trapped in a bathroom. As the cameraman yells at the creature to get out of the house, it barks its defiance at him.

Baboons often react aggressively to threats but no one appears to have been hurt in the video, which was taken in the Cape Town area of South Africa.
