Woman attacked near T station

An Ohio man was ordered held on bail yesterday after he was charged with violently attacking a woman as she left the Quincy Center T station.

Robert Koontz, 30, pleaded not guilty during his arraignment to charges that included attempted murder, kidnapping and assault with intent to rape.

The woman told police she had left the station just after midnight Saturday after she got out of work. She had a sense someone was following her and when she turned around a man, later identified as Koontz, ran up behind her, grabbed her and began choking and punching her, according to Quincy police.

Koontz then allegedly dragged her into a wooded area near Granite Street, but the woman was able to escape and he fled.

Officers were eventually able to find Koontz with the help of a police K-9.
