For sale: Tom Brady’s condo

Tom Brady and Gisele Bundchen's Beacon street home is up for sale for 10.5 million dollars.

Tom Brady is hoping not to get sacked again by the slow real estate market.

The Patriots quarterback has put his Beacon Street penthouse on the market again, dropping the selling price to $10.5 million.

If that price seems too steep, then think about this: The condo was being sold for $10.9 million in 2009. But with no takers, Brady took the penthouse off the market.

According to the Gibson Sotheby’s listing of the property, it comes with three bedrooms, three and a half bathrooms, views of the Charles River and a “sumptuous master suite.”

Taxes run more than $73,000 and condo fees above $8,000, but parking for four cars is included.

While another key selling point is Brady himself, real estate agents said the buyers for such an expensive property would not make that a deciding factor.

“People who spend that kind of money on the buyer side are not going to pay a premium because Tom Brady or President Obama owned the placed,” said Nick Warren, president of the Warren Residential Group. “It might create a little buzz with the everyday person … and get into a lot of media and catch someone’s eye.”

Being a luxury property owned by a celebrity may bode well for a potential sale, but trying to sell a home at more than $10 million may take some time.

Warren said that correctly pricing the property is key and that even when priced right it could take months to sell.

Pricey pads

Tom Brady has set various records in football, but he also may have the record for the most expensive Boston home among the Hub’s athletes. Here’s a sampling of some other homes:

Sox pitcher John Beckett’s Downtown Boston condo is valued at $2.16 million, according to city records. The interior finish is classified as “elaborate.”

Former Red Sox slugger Manny Ramirez was close to selling his 37th-floor Ritz-Carlton penthouse for about $5.5 million last month. He tried to sell it in 2009 for $8.5 million.

Bruins captain Zdeno Chara’s North End condo is valued at $1.9 million. It might be slightly less than Beckett’s condo because the interior finish is only “excellent.”

Fellow Bruin Milan Lucic is also living large with his $1.27 million North End condo.
