Police make arrests, issue citations during South Boston St. Patrick’s Day Parade
Hundreds of people were issued citations for public drinking and a handful were arrested during the St. Patrick’s Day Parade in South Boston today.
As of about 7 p.m. police said they arrested eight people, one of them a woman and the rest men, for various charges during the parade. Police did not yet have the names of those arrested or the specific charges.
The number of arrests is only one more than last year.
“The parades went very well. Unprecedented crowds,” tweeted police Commissioner Ed Davis.
Besides the arrests, police issued more than 200 citations, most for public drinking, said Officer Nicole Grant, a department spokeswoman.
Grant said that number is likely to increase as police continue to file reports.
