Cop Richard Haste to turn self in after Ramarley Graham shooting

An NYPD officer is expected to turn himself in Wednesday to face manslaughter charges in the death of a Bronx teenager shot in his bathroom.

Richard Haste, 30, a four-year NYPD veteran, allegedly shot to death Ramarley Graham, 18, earlier this year.

He faces first- and second-degree manslaughter charges after a grand jury indicted him, according to the New York Post.

“We expect an indictment and are waiting for it,” the family’s attorney, Jeffrey Emdin, had told the Post.

In February, Haste, 30, was assigned to the undercover street narcotics unit, where officers thought Graham was acting suspiciously. Officers reportedly said they thought they saw a gun in the teen’s waistband.

They followed him into his apartment on East 229th Street in the Wakefield section of the Bronx.

Graham was hiding in his bathroom when cops burst into the apartment. Haste allegedly shot him.

Graham was reportedly flushing a small amount of marijuana down the toilet at the time.

Video at the apartment building shows Graham walking into his home, looking behind him as he walks in the door.

The cops then run toward the door, kicking it in an effort to gain entry.

Haste has been on desk duty. He faces up to 25 years in prison.

Since the shooting, the NYPD has said that Haste did not receive proper training for the unit.

A colleague told the Daily News Haste “felt terrible” about the incident. “He didn’t want the kid to die,” the colleague toward the newspaper. “He feels bad. But it happened very fast.”
