MBTA’s mobile ticketing team wants your input

The MBTA Mobile Ticketing Team sent out surveys Monday afternoon to help guide the direction of a new mobile ticketing app, and invited prospective users to participate in a focus group later this month.

“In the coming weeks, we will be conducting a number of user testing sessions and focus groups.  Feedback from customers will help us refine the app before the formal roll out this fall,” MBTA Director of Innovation Joshua K. Robin said in an email to future app users.

The 10-question survey asks users which commuter rail line they usually ride, where they
usually board the train, their age, whether they typically buy single rides or monthly fares, what type of smart phone they use, and how often they use them to make purchases.

The MBTA is also hoping to put together a focus group to give feedback on the mobile ticketing app that will be released this fall.

People can volunteer for the focus group at the bottom of the survey. Those who participate will be able to try out the app, and partake in some free food.

The first MBTA ticket mobile app testing sessions will run from July 17 to July 19 near South Station, North Station, and Back Bay Station, and will last about an hour.
