VIDEO: Watch Mayor Menino’s message to new Boston college students
College students new to the Hub have a tough first assignment: Trying to decipher their new mayor.
Mayor Thomas Menino recently posted a video online as a welcome message for incoming college students titled “Break the Bubble.”
“During the school year, I encourage you to break the bubble by getting off campus, exploring our neighborhoods, volunteer, learn about local issues, and respect your neighbors,” Menino said in the video to a background of soft piano music.
He also encourages students to take advantage of all that Boston has to offer and lists parks and museums, but does not mention the city’s bars and restaurants.
Move in is already underway in the city, with parking restrictions already in place, and is expected to peak this weekend.
