The South Shore Sparker: Another act of arson hits Raynham Dog Track
State fire officials said a fire that happened at 9:45 p.m. Monday at the Raynham Dog Track was arson, adding to the list of recent intentionally-set blazes across southeastern Massachusetts.
The fire happened in a storage shed near the track, and like the other fires, the building was vacant and there were no injuries.
Investigators said there may be one or more arsonists behind the fires.
“Investigators believe this fire may be connected to the series of fires we are investigating in southeastern Massachusetts and ask the public to to be vigilent and call the Arson Hotline at 1-800-682-9229 with any information they may have about these fires,” said Jennifer Mieth, a spokeswoman for the state Department of Fire Services.
The Arson Hotline is part of the Arson Watch Reward Program, funded by the property and insurance casualty insurance underwriting companies in Massachusetts.
Anyone who offers information that helps bust an arsonist will get a $5,000 reward, Mieth said.
