Teen pedestrian struck, killed in Newton
An 18-year-old man was apparently trying to walk across Route 95 in Newton early this morning when he was struck by a car on the northbound side of the highway, thrown across the median into the southbound side, and struck again on that side of the highway.
The accident happened at 6:30 a.m. near Exit 21, according to police.
The victim, who was not named, was pronounced dead at the scene.
State Police released a statement today that said they would not release details about the victim – including why he was walking on the highway – until his family was notified of his death.
