Police are investigating a body found in the Delaware River yesterday evening.

Investigators said that 6th District officers conducting routine patrol on Columbus Boulevard near Race Street were shortly after 5 p.m. flagged down by Penn’s Landing security guards.

The guards told police they saw a body floating in the river. Officers with the Marine Unit retrieved the body, which was face down in the water between the Race Street Pier and Pier 9.

It is not yet known whether the body is that of a man or a woman. No further information regarding the identity of the deceased or a cause of death has yet been released.
