Boston officials on Friday announced new projects that are expected to create 1,400 jobs and invest more than $325 million in the city.

According to the Boston Redevelopment Authority, East Boston will get a new hotel, restaurant and retail space that will cost $31.5 million to develop. Suffolk University is slated to get a $62 million classroom facility on Somerset Street, and a new residential building called Starboard Place will be developed in the Charlestown Navy Yard.

Starboard Place, a $16 million development, will offer 54 residential units at what is now a vacant parcel at 1st Avenue and 9th Street in the Navy Yard, according to the BRA.

In addition to the construction projects, city officials said a construction firm will improve handicapped accessibility and beautify a median in Downtown Crossing.

According to a statement by the BRA, city officials will enter into a $283,980 contract with a Quincy-based firm to upgrade the pedestrian ramp at the northwest corner of the intersection of Bedford and Kingston Streets.

The project also includes a rebuilt and re-graded sidewalk that meets the requirements set by the Americans with Disabilities Act, reconstruction of the median planter and a new ornamental steel fence, a plaque, etchings and new shrubs and flowers.
