A report of a loud party ended with a Boston police officer being allegedly assaulted by a Suffolk University student.

Police said officers responded to 28 Fleet St. in the North End at about 12:30 a.m. Sunday after multiple calls were placed to the university’s loud party line concerning the address.

When officers arrived they could hear music coming from the building, police said.

Officers went to the apartment where the music was coming from, announced their presence and knocked on the door. They waited for 20 minutes until they got a response. That’s when Dominque Demar, 21, of Colchester, Conn., opened the door and then allegedly slammed it on the officer’s shoulder after yelling an obscenity.

Demar allegedly tried to flee and was arrested for assault and battery and resisting arrest.

“At one point, the suspect was heard to say, ‘I’m out of here, I‘m a proud American.’ After a brief struggle, officers were able to subdue and apprehend the suspect. The suspect also stated that she wanted the officers to know her mother was an attorney,” police said.

Police said there were about 25 people in the apartment when they responded and some were hiding.
