A Lowell man is due in court for allegedly slapping a cyclist during a dispute on a Cambridge street last week.

According to a report by the Somerville Journal, Cambridge police responded to reports of a fight between two men around 7 p.m. on Feb. 19., near Broadway and Trowbridge streets.

The driver, 39, said the cyclist, 25, struck his Jaguar, but the cyclist said he merely tapped on the car’s window to tell the driver that he “needed to share the road.”

An argument ensued, and the driver allegedly slapped the cyclist in the face.

The driver was summoned to Cambridge District Court on a charge of assault and battery.
