A junk food peddling Easter Bunny is apparently sorry for the millions of sweet yet unhealthy treats he’s shelled out to children over the years, so he’s putting his cotton tail between his legs and setting off on a national apology tour.

Boston-based “unjunked food” company Unreal, which produces candy made from what it describes as “real ingredients,” is sponsoring The 2013 Easter Bunny Apology Tour and encouraging people to ditch the corn syrup, chemicals, and preservatives in favor of healthier treats.

And while Cadbury Creme Eggs and Peeps have long been a staple of traditional Easter baskets, Unreal’s Sixteen-year-old founder, Nicky Bronner, said he thinks people will be on board with more nutritious candy this Easter.

“I personally believe that taste comes first and health second. I think our candy tastes better than traditional candy,” said Bronner, who founded Unreal at the age of 13 after researching the ingredients of his Halloween candy.

SorryBunny.com is written from the perspective of the remorseful rabbit, who said he plans to hop around the nation and dole out Unreal candy. The bunny is expected to stop by Boston next week, according to a spokesperson.

An apology letter “written by the Easter Bunny” and posted on the campaign’s website says: “For years, I have been hopping around giving out candy, and I never read the labels. Well, recently I did, and it made my fur stand straight up. I have been a bad, bad bunny.”

The Sorry Bunny campaign has garnered celebrity support from New England Patriots Quarterback Tom Brady, as well as Jillian Michaels and John Legend, all of whom are featured in videos on SorryBunny.com.

The Easter Bunny “issued the following letter” today from “his personal rabbit hole:”

I am so very sorry.

For years, I have been hopping around giving out candy, and I never read the labels.

Well, recently I did, and it made my fur stand straight up.

I have been a bad, bad bunny.

Luckily, I found this little company, UNREAL®, that makes candy from all real stuff. It’s the best candy I ever tasted!

I really think you’re going to love it.

Let me know. I’m all ears.

Most sincerely,

The Easter Bunny
