Off-duty cop struck in Kensington hit-and-run
An off-duty Philadelphia police officer is listed in critical but stable condition after being struck by a car in a Kensington intersection early Wednesday.
Police are still searching for the driver, who fled the scene after hitting the pedestrian. A description of the vehicle was not available as of about 8:15 a.m.
The hit-and-run at Cedar and East Cumberland streets occurred about 2:30 a.m. Police arrived to find the injured officer leaning against a car and covered in blood.
Police are not identifying the hit-and-run victim, who sustained a large laceration to his head in the crash.
The officer is being treated at Hahnemann University Hospital.
