On Friday, Urban Improv will host its annual comedy and music revue fundraiser, Banned in Boston.

The benefit, now in its 21st year, puts Boston-area celebrities and politicians in the comedy spotlight, performing unrehearsed skits that skewer pop culture.

“It’s the funniest fundraiser in town,” said Narcissa Campion, managing director or Urban Improv. “We make sure the audience has fun.”

The benefit aims to raise as much as $600,000 to fund the youth program, which offers workshops on bullying, racism, peer pressure, violence and other issues affecting young people.

Mayor Thomas Menino, Gov. Deval Patrick and Aerosmith bassist Tom Hamilton will perform Friday night. The mayor is expected to act in a spoof of British drama series “Downton Abbey,” called “Downtown Crossing Abbey.”

Some surprise guests were also expected.

The event will kick off Friday at 6 p.m. with dinner at Lansdowne Pub, followed by the show at House of Blues. Tickets range from $150 to $250.
