The surviving Marathon bombing suspect remains in serious condition as a team of specialized interrogators wait to question the 19-year-old.

Dzhokhar Tsarnaev’s condition has been unchanged since Sunday. The Federal Bureau of Investigation provided an updated on his condition Monday morning. He is under guard at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center.

Boston police Commissioner Ed Davis said Sunday afternoon that investigators had not yet been able to question Tsarnaev because of his condition.

However, ABC News, citing a law enforcement source, said that Tsarnaev is now awake and responding to questions in writing. Local authorities and law enforcement heads have not confirmed that publicly.

Tsarnaev and his older brother Tamerlan are accused of placing bombs along Boylston Street during last week’s Marathon, killing three people and injuring more than 170 others. Tamerlan was killed during a car chase and police pursuit from Cambridge to Watertown early Friday. Dzhokhar was caught Friday night after a day-long manhunt in Watertown.
